U2 Not Content With Being No. 2, Want Own Videogame Too

It seems that Harmonix success with The Beatles: Rock Band has made U2 want a peice of the pie. In a recent interview with USA Today the bands bassist Adam Clayton admits the band have been approached before about their likenesses and music being used in a game but have rejected all offers so far as they don’t want to be caricatured, but now they have seen how TB:RB turned out they would certainly be interested in a U2 version of the franchise.
“We definitely would like to be in there, but we felt some of the compromises weren’t what we wanted,” bassist Adam Clayton tells USA TODAY’s Edna Gundersen. “That could change. I love the idea that that’s where people are getting music, and we’d love to be in that world. We’ll figure something out. What The Beatles have done, where the animation is much more representative of them, is what we’re interested in, rather than the one-size-fits-all animation. We didn’t want to be caricatured.”
Personally I wouldn’t touch a U2: Rock Band with a 10 foot pole, but I suppose you don’t get to be one of the biggest bands on the planet without a solid fan base. Also U2 are one of the few acts who have enough of a visual presence for a fully themed Rock Band to work, perhaps along with Pink Floyd and Iron Maiden.
