Nintendo’s DS Goes 3D!
Author: Rees | Date: March 23, 2010Seems like E3 is going to be an exciting one this year (as if it isn’t every year!) with Nintendo revealing that they’re going to be releasing a spanking new model of DS. But this one’s going to be pretty different, as it uses 3D screen technology from Sharp and Hitachi which does not require 3D glasses.
According to reliable source Nikkei, it’ll also be bringing motion control, improved wireless, improved battery life, and force feedback to the table. Also, it’s rumoured that the new 3DS will be getting some sort of “3D Joystick” interface.
Hmm…
In a more interesting twist, the internet is rife with speculation that the device won’t be branded as a “DS” at all, and will be the first in a new line of handhelds for Nintendo. That would make sense considering the original Game Boy had a 6 year lifespan, and with the backwards compatibility “overlap” that the company has often employed to ease the transition for gamers (Game Boy to GBA, GBA to DS, Gamecube to Wii etc).
