Bishop Joins the Cast of Rebellion’s Aliens Vs Predator

Author: Vince | Date: December 8, 2009

Bishop

If there’s one person that pops up in the ‘Aliens’ universe more than any then it is Bishop in his many forms, both android and human.  So it seems quite fitting that Rebellion have got actor Lance Henriksen to reprise the role in their upcoming Aliens vs. Predator game.

Lance Henriksen will appear as Karl Bishop Weyland, a descendant of Charles Bishop Weyland, the founder of the infamous Weyland-Yutani corporation from the Aliens universe, lending his likeness and voice to the production.

“They’ve made me look very good,” said Lance, “This is the first time I’ve been fully represented in a game, with my voice and how I look, and the Rebellion guys have done a great job. I might score from this game!”

Aliens vs. Predator is set for release in February 2010 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Another busy day with Nintendo and Sony holding their conferences today.  We saw some pretty excellent looking new games like MAG, Metroid: Object M, Mod Nation Racers and 2 new Mario games.  We got trailers for APB and Sega’s Alien vs Predator and the 2 worst kept secrets of E3 were revealed, the PSPgo and Perfect Dark for XBLA.

Nintendo showed us a glimpse of their future with facebook integration for the DSi and their vitality sensor for the Wii and Sony jumped on the motion controller bandwagon, hell Microsoft even got another motion controller!

Hit the break for a full list of our E3 coverage from day 2.

E3: Alien vs Predator: Predator Trailer

Author: Vince | Date: June 2, 2009

We are full of love for Sega’s upcoming Alien vs Predator game, mainly because it seems so hark back to the pinnacle of the series, no not the original PC version, but the Atari Jaguar version.  Of course, it is being made by the same studio so perhaps that is to be expected.

AvP will not see the light of day until early 2010 and will be the first Aliens title released by Sega since acquiring the very lucrative exclusive license for the franchise.

Aliens vs Predator, More Screens, More Details!

Author: Vince | Date: May 20, 2009

avp-alien-pov

As promised, we are back with more information on Sega’s new Alien vs Predator game that is coming early 2010 for PC, 360 & PS3.  The game is being developed by the team responsible for not only the classic 1999 PC AvP game, but also the completely overlooked and forgotten 1994 incarnation for the ill-fated Atari Jaguar.  Just like the Jaguar version the latest installment in the franchise allows you to choose between playing as an Alien, a Colonial Marine or a Predator, each with its own distinct storyline, tactics and weapons.  The game will feature a 3-way multiplayer mode which will pit the 3 forces against each other in the ultimate battle for survival.

Set on planet BG-386, the games back story involves a colonist mining group discovering an ancient pyramid containing a dark and horrible secret.  Across the stars a race of warriors is alerted to the discovery of their pyramid and a hunting party is dispatched to ensure that it remains sealed at all costs, whilst deep inside the ruined pyramid a malevolent intelligence awakes from centuries of dormancy.  Which if I am not mistaken is pretty much the storyline of the first AvP film, with the exception that it is not set on earth this time round.

More screens and information regarding the story for each of the games 3 forces after the break.

First Screen From Sega’s New Alien vs Predator Game

Author: Vince | Date:

avp1Sega have released the first screenshot from their upcoming Alien vs Predator on PS3 & 360.  The game is being developed by Rebellion for release early next year.  That is currently about all the information available on the title other than it is looking like it will be the first game Sega release since getting the rather lucrative Aliens contract, meaning we will not see Aliens: Colonial Marine until sometime later next year.

More information on the new AvP is due to be released later today, so expect an influx of news and more screens then.

SEGA announce new Aliens Vs. Predator game

Author: Tigervamp | Date: February 13, 2009

PRESS RELEASE

SEGA Europe Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising (Fox L&M) today reveals exciting new details of their increasing portfolio of upcoming games based on Twentieth Century Fox’s Aliens universe.

SEGA will publish an all-new Aliens vs. Predator (working title) game in early 2010. The game is currently in development with independent developer Rebellion, creators of the original 1999 Aliens versus Predator; a legendary title that went on to define an entire generation of multiplayer gaming.

With the opportunity to publish what promises to be a landmark game, SEGA has strategically updated the release of the other upcoming Aliens titles currently in development within its portfolio.

“The innovative new AvP game presents an exciting opportunity for us,” says CEO of SEGA West, Naoya Tsurumi, “It represents a fantastic addition to our growing Aliens franchise and the reinvention of one of gaming’s most cherished iconic titles. By adjusting the release of our other Aliens titles to accommodate it, SEGA will ensure that every title lives up to the high expectations of Aliens and AvP fans.”

“SEGA continues to create masterful games based on our Aliens franchise and this new addition is sure to continue their successful track record,” said Gary Rosenfeld, Senior Vice President, New Media for Fox L&M.

SEGA will announce further details of the new Aliens vs. Predator very soon.

END

I am a huge fan of the Aliens vs. Predator games and I’m man enough to admit that this news excites me enough to send shivers up my spine, ok, perhaps not that much, but it does bring a smile to my face.

Aliens: Colonial Marines, and now this?

SEGA, with these Aliens-related games, you are really spoiling us!

Games that Time Forgot: Alien vs Predator (Atari Jaguar)

Author: Vince | Date: May 12, 2008

For this weeks dive into the vaults of gaming history I am going back to 1994 for Alien vs Predator for the ill-fated Atari Jaguar. Developed by Rebellion Software, the same team who went on to make the PC versions of the AvP series, this game was a true diamond that was missed due to the obscurity of the platform. The game is set in deep space on board a colonial space marine ship which had been boarded by both an Alien ship and a Predator ship, you can choose which of the three forces you play as, each with their own storyline and gameplay style.
