SimBin cut their teeth making some of the most highly regarded racing games of the last few years; producing such gems as the official FIA GT games in addition to the previous games in the RACE series, which are still used by Eurosport to host their unofficial virtual WTCC championships. The latest instalment in the series, the Xbox 360 exclusive RACE Pro, faces some stiff competition from Microsoft’s own Forza Motorsport series and Codemaster’s GRID games in the racing simulator market and the real question is can it stand proud in the face of these grade A titles?

Atari have released a whole load of new screenshots detailing some of the cars from the GT classes from their upcoming 360 exclusive racer, RACE Pro. We are teased with 8 of the cars that will be in the GT category, the Saleen S7R, Dodge Viper GTR-S, BMW M3 GTR, Corvette C6R, Spyker C8, Aston Martin DBRS9 and the BMW Z4.

Set for release on 13/02/09, RACE Pro is beginning to look like a real challenger to Forza 2′s crown and with a demo coming soon you’ll be able to decide for yourself if the games budget price tag is value for money.

With Atari’s latest entry in the RACE series due for release at the end of January exclusively on Xbox 360 they have released a series of screens showing a selection of 3 of the production cars that will feature in the game, the 1000bhp Koenigsegg CCXR, the latest model in Dodge’s hugely successful Viper series – the Viper SRT-10 and Audi’s V8 beast, the R8.

RACE Pro is the 360′s only real challenger to Forza Motorsport in the racing simulator game market, and from the bit of the game I got to play at the Eurogamer Expo I was quite impressed.  The visuals are stunning, especially the scenery, and it looks like they may have finally conquered the problem of the cars looking like they are floating about a millimetre above the track, a problem that has blighted racing games for generations.

Atari have released some new screenshots from their upcoming ‘Forza-alike’ RACE Pro detailing the Road America circuit.

Scheduled for release in January exclusively on Xbox 360 RACE Pro features officially licenced FIA championships ranging from the WTCC series all the way down to Formula 3000 and Formula BMW, in addition to plenty of unofficial championships, and with over 300 models there is no shortage of cars to choose from while you blast around tracks such as Brands Hatch, Road America, Leguna Seca, Macau and many more!
