The first part of Telltale’s episodic game based on Aardman Animation’s Wallace & Gromit, titled Fright of the Bumblebee, is due to hit XBLA on Wednesday next week for the very reasonable price of 800. For those who are not familiar with the game you can check out our review of the PC version of the game here, but in short I would recommend this as an instant buy for anybody who loves some good old school point & click adventure fun or for fans of Wallace and/or Gromit.
Joining them next week will be Yosumin Live from Square Enix and the next part of EA’s Family Game Night package, Boggle, both of which will also cost 800.
There’s cheese and crackers on the table; a mechanical hand playing chess, and the unmistakable sound of a tuba. It’s obvious where you are – in a Wallace & Gromit game. The second game in the four part episodic opus, Wallace & Gromit in The Last Resort, has landed on our desks a mere month and a half after the first episode, (take that Valve!). Telltale Games’ adventure title takes our favourite British characters on another zany quest on PC and soon to be on Xbox 360.
Wallace & Gromit’s television escapades are from an era of lost innocence: The moon could be made of cheese or a psychotic penguin could try and rob a museum. Aardman’s quirky plasticine characters have been a staple British-Christmas-afternoon feature for many years. You’d think three Oscars are enough, but no, Wallace and Gromit are embracing the twenty-first century and making the jump into digital space. Telltale Games (Sam and Max) are in charge of digitalising the lovable duo in the form of four adventure episodes. We’ve got our hands on the first: Wallace & Gromit in Fright of the Bumblebees.
Telltale Inc. have announced that they will be bringing their new game ‘Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventure‘ to XBLA, in addition to the PC, in all it’s episodic glory this spring.
No new details about the game have been released with this, so here are some new screenshots to keep you occupied until we hear more…
Full press release after the break.
As a huge fan of the original Sam & Max PC game I was excited to hear about the long-overdue revival of the wisecracking detectives. The animal version of the odd couple returns with six new stories and all for the price of one game – genius. For those who aren’t familiar with the duo, Max is a short deranged rabbit with psychotic tendencies and Sam is a tall fast-talking dog who, as I pinch a quote from one of my favourite movies, “drives a car and wears a hat” – come to think of it, perhaps he isn’t a dog after all.
Telltale Games, the company behind the new Sam & Max series of games and Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People, have released details on their latest project, a series of games based on the award winning Aardman Animation series Wallace & Gromit entitled Wallace & Gromit: Grand Adventures. Casting you as both the quirky inventor Wallace and his faithful canine companion Gromit across a series of adventures that will almost certainly contain zany contraptions and Wenslydale cheese at some point!
Very few details have been announced yet, but it’s a pretty safe bet that this will be a series of episodic adventures available for the PC at least. Full confirmation of platforms, release timeframe, etc. are expected in 2009, but until then check out some screenshots and concept art after the break.
