Katamari Wedding

Is this the most awesome idea for a theme wedding or what? We love all things Katamari far too much here at TTB, so when we all marry each other in some some of polygamistic homosexual love-fest this is probably how we’ll do it.

More pictures after the break!

Dress Your Dog Up Like The Katamari Prince (If You’re Crazy)

Katamari Damacy / Beautiful Katamari Dog Costume For Halloween

While I don’t generally think that dressing your dog up is a very good idea if you don’t like being bitten, shortly before having your cute little doggie costume torn to shreds, I can’t imagine what self-respecting pooch wouldn’t want to wear this awesome costume from Etsy seller vsc83.

The costume is made from felt and is hand-crafted to whatever size you like for a mere $30. It can be ordered with a removable hat, as well as some rather fecthing matching purple legwarmers. So not only can you have your Katamari wedding cake and eat it, as well as dressing your baby like the Prince, but the family pets can come along for the madness, too.

Katamari Wedding Cake!

Beautiful Katamari prince as featured on a Katamari wedding cake!

If there’s one thing we love here at TTB, it’s Beautiful Katamari. Well, that’s not strictly true as we do love lots of other things that grown men probably shouldn’t, and the fact that cake is among those things is very fortunate indeed.

You’re A Party Pooper, You Need To Roll Better!

Author: Rees | Date: August 19, 2008

…Words which send a shudder down my spine. Damn you King, damn you to hell for shattering my dreams of Katamari world domination!

Still, at least this baby looks like he’s having fun dressed up as the Prince. Not that I’d have one of these things myself (a baby, that is), but if I ever did, I’d definitely be making him a hat based on this pattern from Itchy Stitchy. That’s just how I roll.

See what I did there?

WAIP?: Puzzle Quest, Beautiful Katamari & Battlefield 2: Modern Combat Edition

Author: Vince | Date: March 10, 2008

It’s that time of the week again, where I sum my last 7 days in gaming…

Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords

So this week I finally finished off ‘Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords’, a game that crosses puzzling action and role-play goodness. At 1200 MS points, it’s quite pricey for an arcade game, but it is well worth it if you like both puzzle and RPG’s. The basic theory of the game is that of most fantasy RPG’s, an ancient evil has awoken and is terrorising the land, your hero has to go and stop this, single handedly… When you encounter an enemy on the overland map, it goes in to a bejeweled-esque style puzzle game for the combat, where destroying the different coloured blocks gives you mana for your spells and abilities, and destroying skulls drains your opponents health. Experience is awarded at the end of the fight, your hero levels up, improves their skills, etc…

WAIP? Guitar Hero II, Beautiful Katamari, And Rez HD Edition

Author: Rees | Date: February 3, 2008

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. It’s a new year and therefore it must be time for the triumphant return of What Am I Playing?, this week starring our old favourite GHII, the crazy Japanesey Beautiful Katamari, and the XBLA rebirth of the decidedly old-skool Rez. Read on for my impressions of these games what I has been mostly playing this week.

Guitar Hero II

Oh, GHII, what could be better than you? Sure, I have played a lot of this game’s successor, known as GHIII (oddly enough), but the soundtrack, the achievements, and the determination to completely pwn this game keep bringing me back again and again. Yes, I have been trying to beat Hangar 18 on Expert since before Christmas, and yes, I do swear a lot every time I get to 90% and fail miserably.

Still, I like to think I’m slowly mastering it. Also, I’m well on my way to getting 5 stars on every song on Hard, and I’m frequently getting about 2/3 of the way through Jordan on Expert.

Oh dearest achievements, why must thou tempt me?

Beautiful Katamari

This is officially the second craziest Japanese game I’ve ever played. It involves making a big ball of junk in a certain time limit by rolling a ball, known as a Katamari, around town to pick things up. It’s so simple and yet so addictive. This is a great game to play on your own to try to beat your own scores and an even better game to play with friends.

I only have two complaints about Katamari – the first being that there is never anyone online when I try to play on XBL, and the second being that you can’t actually complete it without forking another fiver for downloadable content. This may be a budget title, but that’s just not cool.

The aforementioned DLC won’t be out until the game is unleashed on our green and pleasant land later this month, and hopefully that’ll mean I actually have some people to play with, too.

Rez HD

Rez HD 360 Screenshot

Okay, so I’ll just come out and say it: what a shitty game. I guess I just don’t “get it”, but this seems like some kind of rhythm-game-slash-shooter, where you fly a wireframe man through various wireframe landscapes shooting enemies in time with a beat. Might I add that this man appears to be naked, which I am sure will upset the likes of Jack Thompson and Daily Mail readers.

At least this release brings us the enhanced “Rez HD” mode which seems to add, er, widescreen support, and, erm…. not a lot else. Other than that, it’s exactly the same game we saw on the Dreamcast back in 2001.

I’m just glad I played the demo thoroughly instead of falling for the hype and spending 800 points outright. I understand that millions of people all over the world remember this game fondly, but I never understood what all the fuss was all about. I guess I’ll just stick to Space Giraffe.

That said, I get the impression that Rez may be a lot more interesting following the ingestion of certain types of fungus.

-

…And yes, I do appreciate the irony of criticising Rez in the same post as praising the equally esoteric (and pointless) Space Giraffe and Beautiful Katamari. That’s just how I roll, baby.

Beautiful Katamari Comes To UK, European Xboxes Next Month

Who’s Got The Biggest Balls Of Them All?

Yep, soon my fellow Europeans (how strange it feels to use that phrase) will be able to experience the sheer joy of a mad little game known as Beautiful Katamari. As I’m sure my fellow teabaggers will agree, I’m really into my stupid Japanese games at the minute. As with many things in life, I think those crazy people on the other side of the world know something that we don’t when it comes to games.

Anyway, Atari (I thought they went bust?) have announced that Beautiful Katamari will be hitting European shelves in February of this year. Expect a review to be forthcoming, as I’ve been playing it for a week or so now and it’s possibly one of the greatest concepts for a game ever devised!
